D.I.Y. Teeth Box

This is one of those things you spot online and say to yourself.. "Why didn't I think of that? I can definitely make that!" So whenever I found myself at Michael's craft store, I picked up a little box that I thought would work perfectly and got started. Anatomy related things are probably my favorite subject to paint so this is why it really stood out to me. I knew my sister would appreciate it too, so surprised her with it as a gift this past Christmas.

1. - 4. :  Pink, red, white, and black acrylic paint. These are the colors I chose, but you could use any color you want. You can find these paints just about anywhere. I get mine from either Wal-Mart or JoAnn Fabrics or any place like that. They are usually under a dollar a piece.
5. Paint brushes. You will need various sizes so you can cover anything from large areas to thin lines. If you have paint markers, that may make it easier to make clear lines.
6. An unfinished box. I got mine at Michael's Craft store, but you can probably get them anywhere like Wal-Mart or JoAnn Fabrics also. They have lots of different styles but I chose this one with a little gold clasp. From what I've saw they range anywhere from about 2 to 8 dollars, depends on the style and size or if it comes as a set.

It was really simple to make. First, I just sketched the design on with a pencil. I did it freehand but you could make a stencil or a pattern if you need to. I made mine very cartoon-like but you could do it as detailed as you want.

Here's a closer look at the details. As you can see, my lines aren't very straight or clean, but you get the point. Imperfections make it more personable, in my opinion.

Here it is almost finished. I just added the plain red over the top, back, and bottom. If you are feeling fancy, like me, you can paint the inside, as well. I even lined the bottom of the chest with a tiny piece or red felt I cut out and fit down inside the bottom.

Enjoy!
