Asbury Park, New Jersey 2011; Videos
Before I forget to post these ever...... :) I took a lot of photos on this trip but unfortunately, couldn't take any at the shows at Stone Pony due to their camera policy. Luckily, I had my trust ol' iPhone with my to take some little videos. Now, I know they aren't at all the best quality but hearing and seeing them sure brings back some fuzzy memories for me! What a good post to end February with..

Until next time.... Asbury Park, New Jersey
Tired of my vacation photos of Asbury Park yet? I hope not. How could that be even possible? I've somehow managed to spread out editing and posting all my photos for nearly a month (Thanks and no thanks to some computer issues!). These are the last few photos I snapped the morning we left the Garden State. Of course we had to go bid our farewell to the sea. Until next time...

Jetty. Asbury Park, New Jersey
First of all.... who knew what these things were called? I just did some research to figure out the correct terminology. I guess they are called groins or sometimes called jetties. Very interesting, right? This is one of my favorite features of the beach. Always so picturesque.

The beach and the ocean, Asbury Park, New Jersey
Here it is.... in all it's glory, the main attraction. The beach. The ocean. There are no words for it's beauty.

Sunrise, Asbury Park, New Jersey
Waking up early is a drag... but it's totally worth it. The sun rising up out of the ocean.. it's something some of us don't get to see too often in our lifetimes. Of course, the photos don't really do justice, but it's a moment I'll definitely cherish, always.

The pier, Asbury Park, New Jersey
You know, it's just mandatory to go to whatever pier is closest when you go to the beach. Technically, this pier is in Ocean Grove, not Asbury Park, but it's really only a hop, skip, and a jump away. No, seriously, though, probably only a couple blocks. The boardwalk kind of connects the two little towns together but the aesthetics of each town are quite different.

The boardwalk, Asbury Park, New Jersey
We spent the majority of our daytime adventures on the boardwalk of Asbury Park. Like any beach, I guess it's the main attraction, even though there isn't too much going on there nowadays, especially in the winter. There were lots of abandoned areas, with beautiful murals, and of course, the usual, like over-priced touristy shops and yummy little seaside eateries. My favorite spot in perhaps all of Asbury Park is the Casino. It's checkerboard floor and artwork covered walls are just so very charming, but it's truly just a skeleton of something even more beautiful that once existed. This building housed a carousel, bumper cars, skee ball, a fun house, and lots of other arcade games. From what I've read it was the real gem of this little town and no one can fathom how it all fell to such despair. There is still a magical, special, and historical significance about this place.

Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, Asbury Park, New Jersey
One afternoon, we decided to do a little exploring in the hotel before we wandered outside. It's a pretty large hotel. There are several huge ballrooms. It kept us pretty occupied for a while. We found some dead end, dimly lit hallways, storage rooms, and stairwells. A little bit creepy. Kind of reminded me of The Shining. Ha ha. Just kidding. This hotel is seriously beautiful and I can't imagine staying anyplace else when visiting Asbury Park, New Jersey.
