We spent the majority of our daytime adventures on the boardwalk of Asbury Park. Like any beach, I guess it's the main attraction, even though there isn't too much going on there nowadays, especially in the winter. There were lots of abandoned areas, with beautiful murals, and of course, the usual, like over-priced touristy shops and yummy little seaside eateries. My favorite spot in perhaps all of Asbury Park is the Casino. It's checkerboard floor and artwork covered walls are just so very charming, but it's truly just a skeleton of something even more beautiful that once existed. This building housed a carousel, bumper cars, skee ball, a fun house, and lots of other arcade games. From what I've read it was the real gem of this little town and no one can fathom how it all fell to such despair. There is still a magical, special, and historical significance about this place.
