Cruiser

Just showing some love to my Crusier on the blog today! I had a couple days driving the Cavalier and just got the Cruiser back from the shop on Thursday. It feels nice to have it back. I've come to the conclusion that I get incredibly attached to intimate objects. Oh well. I enjoy photographing my car, or maybe any car for that matter. Look at those curves and that shine! :)

In other car news, after a hellish morning in the DMV waiting room, Michael got his permit! I'm pretty excited and also a little nervous to teach him to drive. I can't say I'm the best driver myself. I think it will be a fun, growing experience for both of us.

Yesterday was a busy day. Michael and I got up early to go to the DMV. Seems as though we still did not beat the crowd. There is just nothing good about that place. Most awkward waiting room ever! So glad we pushed ourselves to go, though!

After that, we had contemplated going to the County Fair. It was the last day and we put it off ever day just like we had done every other year. It has been either too hott or rainy out! Well, we did drive past but it was raining so we decided against it, even though we did get lucky and have free admission tickets in our posession. I'll make it to the petting zoo next year, I swear!!

We decided we were going to go check out a pretty neat pet store in Greensburg called Total Pet. Last time we were in the area, it was not open yet but recently some one at work was telling me about a pet store that had a pig in it! I just had to go! I ended up going on a little shopping spree for the pet. The ferrets got much needed littler and two new litter boxes that are much better looking and a little bigger since they seem to be growing every day still! they also got some new treats, which they aren't wild about. Yogies forever! I bought them some new dishes for their food and water. They are really cute but they are a bit smaller than their old dishes so they make a bit of a mess! We'll see. I'll put them to good use somehow. I also got the birdie a new bath dish because he likes to bath in his water dish nearly every day! This one is a little bigger for him! I got him some treats that are berry flavored. He's crazy about treats.

We stopped at Custom Culture and I picked up a Supertramp and Devo record. Soo good. I picked up a couple things from Michael's, as well. I could buy like everyyyything in that store.

Later in the evening, my friend, Angel, stopped over. It was so nice to have company! It doesn't happen very often any more. I hope I can keep up the effort in my friendships because I've missed having close friends since they're mostly all in other states! Anyway, I introduced her to all the critters and we talked a good bit. She's very easy and fun to talk to. I think we have a lot in common, even our addiction to Netflix. Ha.

As of now, I'm headed out to Brownsville shortly to do some visiting to the family. It should be an average, relaxing Sunday. I have some more pictures to edit and some things to work on. I'll get back into the groove of things once the work week starts.

Sunrise, sunset

'Just a couple pictures from my evening. Michael and I had a nice little adventure. I like calling it an adventure. :) Why not celebrate all the tiny, average facets of life?
Any large body of water tends to calm me down and cheer me right up. I truly believe this. Not even large, really.. creeks, streams, ponds, lakes, rivers, oceans. It's all really peaceful and beautiful.
We had a little picnic under a pavilion and then did a little wandering through the woods, mushroom hunting and watched the sun set over the lake. It was lovely.
I am thankful that I am awake to see both the sunrise and sunset almost everyday. I ought to take the time to appreciate this fact more.
Here's a peek. I'll share some photos from Nixon at a later time. Promise! I'm just too tired this evening!

Anyone else pumped that tomorrow is Friday? This week went on forever! Far too many ups and downs. I'm ready to move on this weekend and start fresh next week.

Love At First Sight

The 55-200mm VR lens I ordered came in the mail pretty quickly. My mother dropped the package by my place on Saturday night. Like any new piece of camera equipment.. it was love at first sight. We've been snapping pictures throughout the house ever since I took it out of the box. I haven't forgot about the broken lens. I still intend to get it repaired. I'm just super excited to snap some photos with this lens again. I think it's our favorite lens to play with around the house. It's also very helpful on picture-taking adventures.

Just finished eating dinner off of my TV tray. Now I'm watching Mad Men. I'm contemplating baking some muffins to have for breakfast the rest of the week. I'm in a pretty good mood. :)

Summer is for: Spontaneous Adventures!

Summer is for:
Spontaneous Adventures!

I must admit, most of the time I have to drag myself out of the house to do anything, but it's usually worth it. I love any and all kinds of spontaneous, random adventures. Some are planned and some are stumbled upon! Meeting people and critters along the way is even better. These few from the photos above were really fun times and bring back some good memories. :)

This evening, Michael and I wandered around Connellsville. I felt my heart grow a couple sizes bigger when we drove through the train yard. It was a really amazing place. Easy photo-op, as well. I have yet to upload the pictures but I intend to share, of course. Let me get on that...

It's Monday

Not much of a post for today. I did not get much sleep last night, causing work to drag on and be super aggravating.

On a brighter note... Today while out recruiting at work, we stopped at Jackson Farm (I'm a regular, I tell ya'!) and I got a very delicious ice cream cone filled with ice cream called mud pie. Mmmm mmmm mmmm... You have no idea!

Also, I do believe my Cruiser is in good hands. The guy called me to ask me a couple questions and he seemed seriously concerned and determined to fix it. Who knows, though. It's hard to trust a mechanic.. ever. I'm currently driving my little junky Cavalier. It's a love hate thing. Anyway, I am crossing my fingers that my little PT Bruiser comes home healthy, for real this time.

I also had a very content moment earlier this evening while curled up on the couch, home alone. I had a full belly of leftovers. I was finally cooled down by the AC. The critters were frolicking about or singing. The house was all clean still and I got to pick somethin' good to watch on Netflix.

I spent the majority of the evening editing photos. I had already procrastinated doing so for a week. That is not very professional, but hey, I am my own boss. It happens. I'm somewhat pleased how they turned out. There is always room for improvement. I think they will like them, though. I doubt I will ever be satisfied by my own work.

Off to get some much needed, well deserved sleep...

Oh, yeah, Hello August!

There's no place like home

A few years back a friend of mine gave me a burned disk with the movie Garden State on it. Would you believe that I haven't actually watched it until this year? I actually really enjoy the movie. I enjoy the awkwardness of it and the idea they portray about growing up. It definitely provokes some thoughts..

Now don't get me wrong here, I LOVE my home now, here, in Uniontown. It's more like HOME than anything I could ever imagine. When I look into this house and into the rooms, everything just screams LINDSEY. It's good to have control over my own home. The 'freedom'. Though I do need some help sometimes and I haven't got too much pride to ask for it. I will always have a solid foundation and I realize this and I am thankful every day for it. It's just that the childhood idea of home is so much different. It's the most safe and most fun place in the world. It's hard to kick that longing. I suppose for a short period of time most people experience this feeling of like.. limbo. I really don't know how to describe it. I guess at this point you just have to live in the moment and accept the responsibilities and motions of life and really take control and create your own ideas of happiness and home. If you can't get over your past and are constantly comparing the present to it and you're too scared of the unknown future.. well... I don't know.. this is kind of where I'm at.

"You know that point in your life when you realize that the house that you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? All of the sudden even though you have some place where you can put your stuff that idea of home is gone. You'll see when you move out it just sort of happens one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for you kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place."

There are some days where quotes and lyrics just speak for me better than I could ever myself but I'm trying really hard to find my own words instead. However, there are a couple quotes that do stand out to me and I'll try very hard to remember to share them on here when they ring true in my own life. There are some tough subjects that make me truly scatterbrained and at a loss for words but I am trying to make sense of what's going on in my mind. It just takes some serious sorting through.
